Yesterday, we officially kicked off Ellucian Live 2016 talking about our host city Denver. Last month, Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation CEO Tom Clark told the New York Times “In the 1980s, we were Coors, Carbon, and the Cold War.” Today, Denver is home to myriad companies at the forefront of a new era of technological innovation – what the World Economic Forum has dubbed the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Last year at Ellucian Live 2015, we were beset by monsoons in New Orleans. This year in Denver, it’s blizzards in April. Next year, we’re preparing for a plague of locusts.

Well, as CEO Jeff Ray said in his blog, we weathered the storm. Despite a bizarre Spring blizzard that dropped a whopping 12 inches of snow at Denver International Airport over the weekend, early registration reports indicated that a vast majority of our 8,500 attendees made the journey to Denver safely in time for event kick-off.

He was, after all, the architect of Lakers’ NBA dynasty also known as “Showtime.” But I want to take this opportunity to mention a few more highlights you won’t want to miss.

We believe in the power of our community—it’s collaborative, it’s collegial, and it’s contagious. And for the past several years, our award programs have recognized institutions that use our solutions in innovative ways. Closing achievement gaps with smart strategies and sophisticated technology

By Dr. Dale Nesbary on Tuesday, March 1, 2016

Our student population is very diverse in age, demographics, race, and gender: we have early-entry students who are 15 and returning students in their 90s. Some students need help learning how to study, others need help balancing work, family, and school. So we needed several strategies that could address all those needs.

6 expert tips for making the most of Ellucian Live 2016

By Ellucian on Tuesday, February 16, 2016

As a veteran attendee, I have a few tips to share with first-time Ellucian Live goers. My first Ellucian Live experience was in 2010 in San Francisco. It’s changed a lot in the last six years but I’ve gone every year since then. That’s because Ellucian Live has been absolutely instrumental in providing critical education that directly applies to my daily job.

Students are so tech-savvy now that if you can’t offer mobile options, speed, and convenience, they see it as a negative mark against your institution. They expect things to happen overnight: if they send an application, they want an answer tomorrow. So higher education institutions have to make that happen.
