Students: Eric and McKenna
Eric: I've talked with my advisor two times in the last year. Once to plan graduation when I received my associate’s degree, and another when talking about transferring over to a four year institute. If the college communicated what courses are transferable and what aren't, that would make the process 100 times easier. Currently, only my general education courses will be transferring over to my four-year institute.
McKenna: When I went to community college, they didn't know that I was only going for a brief period of time before transferring. So it was really on me to go to a counselor, tell them what had happened, what I needed to happen, and the help I needed. I had to go several times, and I had to wait in a lot of lines and see people more than once to make sure that I fully understood what I needed and that they understood that too. All of my credits transferred from my community college to the four-year institution. So that was lucky. But I've known people that hasn't happened to and it can be very frustrating.
