Christie's Education selects Ellucian SIS solutions for London and New York locations
- Christie’s Education will use Ellucian Quercus and Ellucian PowerCampus to deliver a better student experience
- The two solutions will work together to help manage separate reporting requirements for locations in New York and London
- PowerCampus and Quercus will make Christie’s more nimble and efficient and surface data quickly, allowing them to make better decisions and plan for the future
Christie’s Education, a graduate and continuing art world education provider owned by Christie’s Auction House, has chosen two Ellucian Student Information Solutions (SIS)––Ellucian Quercus for London and Ellucian PowerCampusTM for New York. These two solutions will work together to deliver a better student experience and streamline internal business processes, enabling Christie’s Education to now operate as one entity providing global courses.
One of the major drivers for a new technology solution is that Christie’s Education reports to two separate governing bodies in order to grant degrees—The Open University in the United Kingdom and the New York State Board of Regents in the United States. Manually managing separate reporting requirements highlighted the need for more accurate and automated student record keeping across both entities, and past technology solutions didn’t meet the needs of a single institution that is split between two international locations.
“Our small administrative staff in the U.K. was spending upwards of 40 minutes per student to manually enter data for Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) reporting––using the automated workflows and built-in reporting structures this now takes just a few minutes overall,” said Christie’s Education Director of Registry and Student Services, Fiona Guernaoui. “We’re also creating administrative efficiencies and a more consistent student experience by automating recruiting, acceptance and enrollment processes, and data flow across both entities.”
Students, once required to queue at reception to retrieve any administrative information, will now access data and conduct all administrative activities via an online portal. The digital application and acceptance process will eliminate the need for students to spend their first moments at the institution inputting data, before truly experiencing their first day.
“Ellucian demonstrated its experience and knowledge of the U.K. higher ed market, has trusted solutions for the U.S. market, and proved to be a partner who will work with us to stay modern as technology and expectations advance over time,” said Guernaoui. “PowerCampus and Quercus will make us more nimble and efficient, and surface data quickly allowing us to make better decisions and plan for the future.”
“We are excited to be working with Christie’s Education as they institute new best practices and modernise the student experience,” said Ellucian Managing Director for EMEA, Darren Hunt. “As they implement Quercus and PowerCampus, they will see the elimination of manual processes and reporting, have access to key student data at a moment’s notice, and be able to better plan and focus on strategic activities that move their business forward.”
