Canwell Educational Consultants (Canwell), a developer and operator of Canadian Higher Education institutions in the Middle East, has chosen Ellucian PowerCampus to enable growth and to help its institutions adapt to local needs. Canwell operates two campuses in Egypt as the Canadian International College (CIC), its newest institution, the Universities of Canada in Egypt (UCE) is the first international university to open in the New Administrative Capital of Egypt. With UCE located 30 miles east of Cairo, in what will become Egypt’s main hub for government and finance, rapid growth is expected. Canwell quickly recognised the need for a Student Information System that will work across these locations.
“Our leadership team began evaluating student information systems that could evolve with the growing needs of our institutions and that are flexible enough to be tailored to our specific requirements, particularly in regard to adapting to meet the needs of the Egyptian education market and delivering effective implementation and support at a regional level,” said Canwell Education Consultants, Business Development Manager, Ahmed Elkady, PhD. “Not only did Ellucian’s reputation as the leading provider of higher education-specific solutions offer crucial trust for our Canadian partners, but the availability of accessible and reliable local technical support in the Middle East was also essential for reassuring IT staff.”
Designed to help institutions meet increasing demands for improved accountability, performance and productivity, PowerCampus will provide UCE and CIC with a structured and scalable base to support its administration processes, including recruitment, admissions, registration, management of student records and billing processing. Additionally, the universities will rely on PowerCampus’s reporting capabilities that give administrators the tools to make data-informed decisions.
Canwell will also enhance self-service functionality letting students have increased insight into and control over their educational journey. Furthermore, new tools will increase communication and collaboration for faculty, staff, students and alumni. As a result, it will help improve service while reducing the demands on staff time, helping to give UCE a competitive edge as competition amongst universities in the region intensifies.
