The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), the largest higher education institution in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is now live on Ellucian Banner 9, its full enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution.
Working in partnership with Ellucian since 1995, HCT recognised the changing needs of its constituents by moving to the latest version of Ellucian Banner Student, HR and Finance. Using the Ellucian Ethos framework, HCT will further increase the modern student experience through integration with other solutions.
The HCT system is a community of more than 23,000 students and 2,000 faculty and staff based on 17 modern, technology-enhanced campuses. Founded in 1988, HCT offers a variety of work-relevant programmes designed to equip students with knowledge, skills and competencies that meet international standards and the future industrial and societal needs of the UAE.
“We are on a transformational journey towards HCT 2.0, which will take us through a complete digital transformation,” said Higher Colleges of Technology Vice Chancellor, Abdullatif Al Shamsi, Ph.D.
“Our Student Information Systems are a very important part of that transformation,” said Higher Colleges of Technology Deputy Vice Chancellor of Education Technology, Jihad Mohaidat, Ph.D. “Leveraging Banner 9 and Ethos, we will integrate our academic, administrative and governance systems giving us a wholistic view of our data across 17 campus locations and 71 programmes of study.”
HCT approached its digital transformation from a business perspective, fully evaluating the challenges, strategy, planning and execution needed for success. The move to Ellucian Banner 9 greatly reduced the complexity of past customisations and improved operational processes across the institution. Putting Ellucian Ethos at the centre of its transformation allows HCT to integrate solutions campus-wide and supports better institutional decision making.
“We are thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with Higher Colleges of Technology,” said Ellucian President and CEO, Laura Ipsen. “By choosing Banner and leveraging the Ethos framework, HCT has implemented a modern and comprehensive ERP that enables data-driven decision making while ensuring a personalised constituent experience.”
The partnership was extended during Ellucian Live 2018 in San Diego, where Laura Ipsen and Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The purpose of this agreement is to collaborate on a ‘Centre of Excellence for Higher Education Technology’ to showcase best practices and solutions for the community.
