Dr. Dan Greenstein

Dan Greenstein is Chief of Industry Transformation at Ellucian, where he helps colleges and universities strengthen institutional resilience, accelerate transformation, and improve student outcomes through effective governance, data-informed decision-making, technology modernisation, and organisational redesign.

A nationally recognised higher education leader, Dan brings more than three decades of experience spanning public higher education, philanthropy, digital transformation, governance reform, analytics, and organisational leadership. He is widely known for helping institutions and systems address structural challenges while advancing student success, affordability, workforce alignment, and long-term sustainability.

Prior to joining Ellucian, Dan served as Chancellor of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), one of the nation's largest public university systems. During his tenure, he led a comprehensive transformation focused on financial sustainability, affordability, student success, workforce alignment, and long-term institutional resilience. He previously held leadership roles at the University of California and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where he advanced initiatives focused on educational innovation, digital transformation, and increasing postsecondary attainment.

Dan is a frequent speaker and writer on institutional transformation, governance, artificial intelligence, workforce development, and the future of higher education. He holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Oxford.
