John Rathje, Vice President and CIO, Kent State University

Digital transformation is really thinking differently about what you can do and how you approach the mission that your organization has. Kent State's digital transformation journey is one where we're really looking first to consider all of our processes. What are the things that we're doing? And are those processes really fit towards how we used to do things or the way we'd like to do things?

So our journey is one that is progressing. It's one in which we're looking at our data more intently to identify, how can the data inform us about the paths and avenues that support student success and the outcomes for their graduation? We're looking at, what is a student population that may feel somewhat disenfranchised and maybe might not persist as a student?

And we're looking at ways to engage those populations of students and recognize by engaging the students, along with our administration and faculty together in one room, understanding how we can make a positive impact. And literally, there are people with huge smiles and in some cases just even tears of joy. Because they recognize the impact that they're having by putting processes together that can change lives.
