  • She knew Ellucian was the right career choice for her based on the sincerity and authenticity of her teammates.

When I took the senior consultant job at Ellucian, I was leaving behind a strong team with my former employer. I loved my job but was ready for a change, which is why I made the jump to Ellucian.

With this change in careers, there were a lot of firsts for me—including working remotely. I didn’t know what to expect. Then, I met virtually with my team and was at ease. Right from the start, during my interviews, I have felt like I was always part of the team, and I knew that joining Ellucian would be the right choice. Now that I’m an employee, time and time again I tell my friends and family how extremely connected I am with my team. I didn’t realize that I would feel that way by working remotely—let alone so early on. I am confident this feeling is something that will never go away during my tenure with Ellucian.

When we found out we were having our Professional Services team retreat at the Lake Mary, Florida office, we were stoked. We were so excited to see each other face-to-face, and also excited about what being in the Orlando area meant for us—theme parks and the Power of Together!

Spending time at Universal Studios and growing as a team meant so much to all of us. It was a fantastic experience, and something I would never have guessed I’d be doing. While we were giddily running around in Harry Potter World waiting for butterbeers, we even ran into another Ellucian employee! One of the coolest things about working at Ellucian is that even if we’ve never met, we are all family. To me, that’s what Ellucian life is all about. It’s the connection we all have with each other as we work together to improve the student experience.

In all honesty, I wasn’t sure what to expect when meeting everyone face-to-face for the first time. I was equal parts excited and nervous to meet the team that I had come to know virtually. I was pleasantly surprised by the connection and rapport we all immediately had and the desire we all shared to spend time together. Our sessions in the office were so helpful and educational—training us on the product, discussing future releases, and doing hands-on practice sessions. Outside of the office, we had hilarious team dinners full of laughter and we had a fun experience introducing three of our team members to nitrogen ice cream and dragon’s breath!

I came into this job wanting a team that was both professional and fun—and I can say with certainty that I have found these with Ellucian. I love the work we do, the impact we have empowering institutions to evolve their advancement shops, and the experiences that are available to this tremendous team.
