Columbus University (Columbus), a private higher-education institution located in Panama City, Panama, has selected Ellucian PowerCampus as their new student information system (SIS). Ellucian PowerCampus will act as the foundation for the university’s Institutional Improvement Plan to strengthen campus technology infrastructure.
Ellucian PowerCampus will allow Columbus to automate administrative processes, increase staff productivity, and enhance the student experience with more effective communication. In addition, it will empower other campus modernization efforts, including new nautical simulators in the Marine and Technological Sciences Faculty, part of the Health Sciences and Maritime Training Center.
“By expanding our technology capabilities, we can greatly increase our service offerings with consistent data, reduced application wait times, and an increase in communication with students and faculty,” said Guillermo Zaldivar Peralta, Director of Technology and Information Systems at Columbus University. “These changes will help us comply with our Institutional Improvement Plan submitted to the National Council of University Evaluation and Accreditation (CONEUPA), while helping to ensure student success on and off campus.”
"At Columbus University we are making information and communications technology a priority,” said Dr. Diomedes Concepcion, Vice Rector of Research and Postgraduates. “The changes we’re instituting today will help standardize our educational quality, strengthen our academic and administrative management programs, and expand our educational offerings.”
Columbus University is the first educational institution in Panama to possess an international recognition from the Quality Standard ISO 9001-2015. Posession of this standard demonstrates the university’s ability to consistently meet constituent and regulatory requirements.
