Navigating 2024: Priorities from EdTech Leaders

EdTech Leaders Priorities

In our 2023 Client Survey, we sought to tap into the collective consciousness of the EdTech community, asking the essential question, "What are your key priorities for 2024?" The responses offered an array of ambitions, combining technological aspirations with a strong emphasis on personal growth and institutional sustainability. These insights not only showcase individual goals but also weave together broader themes that are shaping the future of educational technology.

Bridging Technology and Personal Growth in EdTech

One of the standout themes from the survey was a dual commitment to technological enhancement and personal development within the EdTech community. Jamie Dewitz from Hawkeye Community College captures this sentiment, aiming to revolutionize their digital interface with "a well thought out and well-planned instance of Experience." This goal, shared by many, highlights a drive to elevate user engagement through advanced platforms like Ellucian Experience.

Parallel to this technological pursuit, the survey emphasized a strong focus on personal skill enhancement. Jason Madden of Black Hawk College plans to deepen his technical knowledge with "an online course on Linux Server Management," while Paul Nast from John Brown University seeks to "Pursue certifications." These aspirations reflect a broader trend in the EdTech sector: blending the adoption of cutting-edge technologies with a commitment to individual professional growth.

Reinforcing EdTech Foundations and Student Focus

Another key theme that emerged was the strengthening of educational systems and infrastructure. Florante Roa from College of the Desert succinctly encapsulated this priority: "Complete CyberSecurity Solution, Better ERP Student Systems!" This concept is crucial in a world where digital security and efficient educational processes are paramount.

Alongside these technological improvements, maintaining a student-centric approach remains a core priority. Melissa Mezo from Fordham University's simple yet powerful goal, "Continue to learn," highlights the ongoing journey towards technologies that directly enhance student learning and experiences. This blend of strengthening core systems while keeping student needs at the forefront indicates the multifaceted challenges faced in the EdTech space.

Institutional Resilience and Sustainability

A critical aspect that resonated in the responses was the need for institutional resilience and sustainability. Todd Britton from the University of La Verne noted "financial sustainability" as a crucial goal, reflecting a common understanding in the EdTech community about the need for economic stability and thoughtful planning.

Resilience here extends beyond just financial well-being. It involves preparing institutions to adapt to changes with effective strategies for dealing with technological and educational shifts. It’s also about proactively addressing future challenges and transforming them into growth opportunities.

In the same way, sustainability is more than just financial management. It includes managing resources wisely, making decisions that are good for the long-term health of the institution, and committing to socially and environmentally responsible practices. The priorities centered on resilience and sustainability indicate a desire for educational institutions not only to survive but flourish and evolve amidst the changing landscape of education.
