Exploring the Impact of the FAFSA Simplification Act with Ellucian

Overview

Financial friction stands as the number one barrier to enrollment and retention students face. For students and their families, navigating the financial aid process is complex and can be frustrating, especially when they expect streamlined, personalized experiences when making a purchase or financial transaction. Significant changes to this process made by the 2020 FAFSA Simplification Act take effect this year, and the overhaul has delayed the opening date for the FAFSA application period to December 2023, rather than the usual October 1st opening date.

To explore these and other related issues, Ellucian and University Business (UB) partnered to survey college and university leaders in the UB audience in July 2023. A total of 288 respondents participated, representing more than 17 job titles or departments and coming from a variety of sizes and types of institutions. Watch this on-demand session to explore these insights from institutional leaders on the financial aid process at their institutions, as well as the impact of the 2020 FAFSA Simplification Act.

In this webinar, you'll learn how peer institutions are:

  • Reporting impacts they are already experiencing from the 2020 FAFSA Simplification Act
  • Addressing the urgent need for clear communications with students and families
  • Simplifying complex financial processes to improve enrollment and retention
