Motivating recognition of a job well done
What is means to Bakersfield College to be an Ellucian Impact Award Finalist
Jennifer Johnson, Department Chair, Nursing, Bakersfield College
To be an Impact Award finalist is extremely humbling. When you listen to the competitive nature of the application process, to hear the stories of the other schools and what we were up against in terms of the competition, it is rewarding and humbling, is reaffirming that we are doing good work because sometimes when you are in certain positions and you're in the trenches, you forget. And you don't always take a moment to lift your head, and breathe, and look and see what's going on.
To be recognized at Ellucian Live was amazing and exciting, and again, humbling and rewarding. And we will take this back to our campus to say, you know, we are doing good work. And hard work does have a payoff. And it will be in the benefit to our students when you look at what we have identified. You put on paper what we've been doing—it's pretty good.
And I think it's fair for us to be able to take a moment to say, we're doing a really good job. Keep up the good work; and then we were recognized for doing a good job.
