Mark Fields joins Ellucian board of directors
Former Fortune 500 leader lends innovative perspective to board of higher ed's choice for next generation systems.

Ellucian, the leading provider of software and services built to power higher education, announced today that Mark Fields has joined the company’s board of directors.
Fields served most recently as president and chief executive officer of Ford Motor Company, until his retirement in May 2017.
“Mark is a truly innovative leader and is passionate about higher education,” said Ellucian CEO Laura Ipsen. “His experience leveraging disruptive technology to modernize the user experience will be extremely valuable to Ellucian and our customers, who continually strive to provide enhanced, personalized technology experiences to their students and faculty. We are excited to welcome him to the Board.”
Fields, who joined Ford in 1989, was critical to the company’s growth in global markets, North American turnaround and record profits in both 2015 and 2016. As CEO, he led the organization through periods of technological transformation, ultimately enriching the customer experience by using data-driven insights to advance the application of technology in its vehicles.
Fields was elected to the IBM board of directors in January 2016 and served as chair of the U.S.-China Business Council from June 2015 to May 2017. He was named to Fast Company’s 2016 Most Creative People in Business list for steering Ford in a more adventurous direction. Fields holds an economics degree from Rutgers University and an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business.
