Interview Philosophy & Approach

At Ellucian, we recognize that interviewing is a two-way street. While we’re learning about your experience, strengths, and aspirations, you’re also learning about us — who we are, how we work, and whether this is a place where you can grow and thrive. That mutual discovery is at the heart of how we design our process.

We take a thoughtful and consistent approach to interviewing to ensure every candidate has a fair, inclusive, and meaningful experience — one rooted in respect and built to reflect our culture of inclusion, innovation, and purpose. Here’s what you can expect from our process:

Showcasing Your Skills and Potential

Our interview process is designed to give you the opportunity to demonstrate your strengths — how you think, solve problems, collaborate, and contribute. We use a globally consistent approach grounded in key competencies, which helps us understand both your past experience and your future potential. It’s how we ensure every candidate is evaluated fairly, consistently, and based on what matters most.

“Interviewing is a two-way street. Believe it or not, I do not feel interviews should be an interrogation process led only by the company. Have your questions outlined — and hopefully, many of them will be answered during the interview process. If that’s the case, let them know they’ve already addressed your questions, but read them back to confirm. This demonstrates that you came prepared (not just implied it) and that you listened actively throughout the interview.”

When preparing for your interview, it's important to not only describe your activities but also highlight your main achievements to showcase your impact and capabilities. Before heading into an interview, take the time to investigate the company by reviewing its website and social media channels to better understand its values, culture, and recent developments. During the interview, express genuine enthusiasm and interest in the position. Afterward, demonstrate your engagement by asking thoughtful questions about the challenges and responsibilities associated with the role.
