Ellucian platform enhances student experience and streamlines campus operations
QUEENS, N.Y. and RESTON, VA — Ellucian, the leading higher education technology solutions provider, today announced that St. John's University, a leading Catholic university serving nearly 16,000 students across its New York and global campuses, is now live on Ellucian Student powered by Banner, a modern SaaS-native and AI-enabled Student Information System (SIS). The successful transition to Ellucian Student marks a major milestone in St. John's IT modernization strategy, freeing up critical resources, improving system uptime and enabling the institution to accelerate innovation that enhances the student and staff experience.
"Ellucian Student is designed to meet the complex needs of modern institutions, and St. John's University has unlocked its full potential," said Mike Wulff, Chief Product and Technology Officer, Ellucian. "With real-time data access, intuitive self-service tools and a seamless user experience across academic and administrative functions, the SaaS platform is driving new levels of efficiency and engagement."
St. John's leveraged an agile implementation approach to migrate its key administrative systems — including Student, Finance, Human Resources, and Financial Aid — to the cloud. The transition was guided by Project Genesis, a university-wide initiative to eliminate technical debt and reimagine campus operations.
"Ellucian Student powered by Banner is already creating positive change at St. John's," said Anne Pacione, Chief Information Officer, St. John's University. "It has provided the students with an improved experience and given our community access to more reliable, efficient, and intuitive tools that enhance daily operations and the overall experience. With this modern platform in place, we're positioned to continually innovate and better support the evolving needs of our academic community."
Ellucian's SaaS platform now serves as the university's operational backbone, offering automated updates, more efficient workflows, and 99.99% uptime while eliminating the need for monthly server patching and disruptive system maintenance.
"This milestone reflects the strength of a truly collaborative partnership between Ellucian and St. John’s University," said Kelly Rogan, Chief Operating Officer, Ellucian. "From day one, both teams demonstrated deep commitment, agility, and shared purpose. Together, we executed a complex, enterprise-wide SaaS migration while keeping people, process, and progress tightly aligned. We’re proud to celebrate this achievement and excited to continue supporting St. John's as they unlock the long-term value of their technology transformation."
